 On Chikanka Island, a 40 minutes boat transfer from Lakeview Lodge, our chalets offer guests breathtaking sunrise views, while sunsets can be watched form the deck of the restaurant with a drink in hand.

Fishing all year round

 

Tiger fishing is a main attraction for visitors to Lake Kariba and, although fishing is good year round, the best season for catching tiger fish is from August to December.

 

 

 

 

 

Wildlife Viewing

 

Chikanka Island offers guests the opportunity to experience the thrill of viewing wildlife on foot. Birding on the islands is excellent, and our staff will share their knowledge of the wildlife, vegetation and ecology. Game and birding walks can be arranged for the morning or afternoon. Please note that we do not walk when the elephants are visiting the islands!

 

 

Hippos, Elephants and Crocodiles

 

Elephant often frequent the islands and this is an ideal way to view them while relaxing on the boat, while hippos and crocodiles are a sure sighting!
